The Farm

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting my friend Joanna at an animal rescue farm across the Puget Sound, where she volunteers. I had my camera with me.

More photos here.

How anyone can abuse, harm, and neglect animals is completely beyond my way of thinking. Happily, some of these animals were given up willingly by their prior owners in hope that they'd have a better life somewhere else. Better to do this than to make an animal suffer years of neglect in an unsuitable home. But there's the flipside, where some of the animals DID suffer before they arrived at the farm. The acts of abuse were unthinkable.

I am grateful that the farm exists. We start volunteering on Sunday.

People who voluntarily surrender animals when they can't care for them, I respect.

The abusers barely qualify as human, of the worst kind. To hurt the innocent and trapped, is despicable.
