Laptop sleeve

Here's to making useful things! I just got a new laptop (hooray!) and of course needed to get some protection for it. The neoprene sleeves just didn't cut it for me -- too boring for my taste -- so I perused Etsy for something unique and handmade.

And I found nothing. No...wait...I found nothing that I could afford. Jeebus, people, I'm all about handmade, but I cannot pay $50 for a laptop sleeve.

So I set to creating my own from some fabric scraps. Took me less than an hour, fits perfectly, and it probably cost a total of 2 bucks to make.

The inside is soft fleece (remnant from fabric store), the outside is a funky pattern I found at IKEA (also a discounted remnant), and the clasp was made from an elastic hair tie and a vintage button. There are several patterns on the web, but I just measured by hand and winged it. Piece o' cake.
