Super find: Barber chair

So we're moving across town soon, to a much bigger awesome townhouse with lovely hardwood floors and *gasp* a full washer and dryer. And of course, I'm just giddy with the idea of having so much new space to fill. So Dave and I went to Goodwill today to seek out and old dresser or desk to refinish. What did we end up going home with?

A powder blue barber chair. But come on! It's so cool!

And from the time I paid for it to the time it got into the car, at least 7 different people stopped us to tell us how cool it was and ask if we were opening a salon. (no. we just thought a barber chair would be awesome.)

And it is.

Yeah...we'll try for that desk and dresser again next week.

Dutch boy

I have had the Dutch Boy paint commercial song stuck in my head for the past 10 minutes and I can't get it out:

I'm sad that I can't find the version with the lady singing, "The look, the look, the look the look, DUTCH BOY! Satin finish Dutch boy!"

OH my god. I've gone insane.

Vacation withdrawal

It has only been 30 minutes and I'm already going through Lindsey withdrawal. This was the first time I've ever taken a stay-at-home vacation and it was AMAZING. I saw my city again in a new light. I drank good coffee and good beer. And I remembered how thankful I am to have had such a good friend for such a very very long time.

Safe travels, dear friend. I miss you already.

8. Tour Theo Chocolate.
9. Eat lots and lots and lots of good food.
10. Pretend to be a tourist.

11. Take copious amounts of pictures.

Found: christmas kitties

I found this...um...nice photo sitting in the dirt by my mailbox today. Aren't they festive? My favorite part is the arm holding the cat on the left down.

My yard gives me such random weird presents.

More from the files

Here are two of my favorite prints ever from my long lost excursion to the crumbling old building at Vernon Marsh.

I used to work at a photo lab, and on an idle day my co-worker and I decided to cross-process some slide film. Which means we put our exposed slide film through the color chemicals used for regular print film. Which is bad for the chemicals (the process contaminates them), but happy for the photographer because you never know what you'll get. I got funky shades of cool blue and some nice vignetting.

A print of these two images is now available in my etsy shop!

Etsy! Shop! Open!

This is a good moment for me. I've been trying to figure out how to construct a small side business for quite some time now, and the day has finally come. My etsy shop is officially open. Hurrah! Can I just say that the state of Washington and the city of Seattle have made it infinitely easier to start a small business than the state of Wisconsin? It's just so clear. And simple. And inexpensive.

My current offerings are merely introductory right now as I work on updating the shop with new inventory. I've been creating prints and earrings and storing them away like a squirrel, just waiting for the planets to align. Right now I have a handful of lovely earrings available, but there will be some awesome photography and additional pretty things coming soon. So stay tuned in the weeks to come as I add more and more and more.

And if anyone is wondering what the hell Etsy is, good god, go check it out. I firmly support buying handmade whenever possible. It's good for all us creatives, just doing what we love and maybe getting a little payment for it.
